ReviewI am a 34 year old Cypriot living in Cyprus. Waterskiing is my favourite sport and I learnt to ski in the sea, and I have always wanted to improve and take my skills to a higher level. After I discovered the Cyprus Water Ski Federation, I was extremely excited that we had lake type slalom ski facilities. I enthusiastically contacted the Federation and expressed my interest in skiing in the dam with them. Unforunately, they are neither friendly or particularly helpful. They first told me that I need to get an official health certificate, which is understandable. Once I got that done I tried to ski with them for a period of 2 years, calling both before and during their skiing season to schedule a time for a session, only to be told "we are sorry but we do not have time for anyone else to ski", and they basically focus only on the younger generation (which is understandable - to a point) and their already existing athletes. Not a very good way to attract new clientele or maintain a good reputation. When I DID manage to go there once, the Cyprus mens champion was also there (incidentally the son of the President of the Federation) and he threw a comment that "this place is not a sea watersports centre", hinting I should not be there! The others that were present and clearly regulars were also not friendly. This is not how a stranger or beginner should be treated in any place. The boat driver, Maxim, is great and I felt that he has much to offer, but unfortunately is part of this bad Federation. Conclusion: Horrible place, horrible people. Whenever I have time I now travel abroad with other friends who love the sport to slalom ski in foreign lakes, despite having one that is a 30 minute drive from home! NOT RECOMMENDED.
